What is fair-share?
The ELHS band program receives minimal financial support from the school district to underwrite the cost of the ELHS band programs. The band booster’s budget is distributed among all band students. However, marching band, winter percussion, and winter guard require additional operating expenses; therefore, students who participate in these programs are expected to contribute their fair-share of the additional costs.
The Band Boosters volunteer tirelessly to operate the concession stand, host the Classic, obtain sponsorships, etc. to minimize this contribution; however, these fundraising efforts are not sufficient to completely cover our operational expenses (uniforms, instrument maintenance and repair, sheet music, competition registration fees, specialists, non-PCSB instructors, transportation to and from events, etc.). Since 2012, ELHS Band Boosters have managed to keep each student’s fair-share amount to $575. If you can pay before August 31st, 2018 the cost will be reduced to $500. [Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers that make this fair-share one of the lowest in north Pinellas County!]
Are there fundraising opportunities to help pay for my fair-share?
Absolutely! Our Band Boosters coordinate Tag Days around the community for students to raise money. Also, band members can contact local business and request sponsorships.
Our family is experiencing financial difficulties, are there any options for us?
We encourage all students to participate in tag days and contact local business for sponsorships since it is possible to raise a student’s entire fair-share through donations with no family cost. However, if after utilizing these options, your family is still experiencing difficulty paying your fair-share, please contact Mr. Black within the first four weeks of school. There are resources that we can utilize to assist those in need, but we must have direct contact in order to assist you.
When is my fair-share payment due?
Students who pay their fair-share before August 31, 2018 will receive an early payment discount of $75 making the fair-share only $500. Fair-share paid after August 31 will be the full amount ($575) and are due before semi-finals in November.
How do I pay the fair-share?
We offer the following methods to pay your fair-share.
a) Place in blue barrel in Mr. Black’s office.
(Only available when the band room is open.)b) Mail to East Lake Band Boosters:
36181 East Lake Rd, Box 192, Palm Harbor FL 34685
- Paypal (Paypal link is listed below)
Paypal Option 1:
By clicking on the new “Pay Now” button on the bottom of this page, you will directed to a secure site linked to the East Lake Band Booster’s account. There, you can sign into your Paypal account to make a payment or use the guest tab to pay by credit card. After answering the appropriate questions about the method and purpose of payment, hit send and your payment will be made.
Paypal Option 2 (preferred Paypal method):
1. Rather than using the “Make a Payment” link below, establish and use your own PayPal account.
2. Sign in to your personal account at www.paypal.com and then click the “Send Money” tab.
3. Enter the email as the one you are sending your money to as: email@example.com and enter amount of payment.
4. Click on the “Personal” tab, rather than the “Purchase” tab.
5. Select “Payment Owed.”
6. After you select “continue”, please scroll down to the “Message” box and type what your payment is for (i.e. Johnny Smith’s Fair Share contribution).
By using your own account and that “personal” tab, we save 2.2% plus 30 cents per transaction. While it doesn’t seem like a lot but when we have large payments coming in, it adds up quickly (On a $500 payment we save $11.30). Every penny saved helps to pay for band expenses that benefit our students.
Use the below button only if you do not have a PayPal account (using this method costs the ELBB money). Please see the above directions for using your PayPal account at no cost to the boosters.
